The man hit the girl in the head with a rock. She managed to escape to a store on Sudurlandsbraut. An ambulance was called for and the girl was taken to hospital with injuries to her head, Morgunbladid reports.

The attacker is still on the loose. He is around 170-centimeters tall, has dark blond hair and is of an averagely build. He was wearing a dark jacket or sweater and white shoes with red stripes on the front.

If anyone has information that could prove helpful to the police, they are asked to call (+354) 444-1100.
