This weekend Reykjavík’s Grand Rokk nightclub will be turned into one large tattoo salon where 15 native and foreign tattoo artists will show their work in progress. The participants include award-winning tattoo artists from the US.
“There will be about five Icelandic and ten foreign tattoo artists participating,” Össur Hafthórsson, one of the festival’s organizers, told Bladid. Foreign artists include Santana, JJ, Jason June among others.
“Santana taught Fred Durst [lead singer of Limp Bizkit] how to make tattoos and he tattooed the band Staind. Santana is a legend in the tattoo world,” Hafthórsson said.
The tattoo enthusiast also explained he wanted to add a few more pieces of art to his legs by Santana, JJ and Jason. “I don’t know how many tattoos I have already, between 30 and 40.”
The festival opened yesterday and lasts until tomorrow.
