Swimmer Örn Arnarson will carry the Icelandic flag and lead the group of Icelandic athletes participating in the 2008 Beijing Olympics at the opening ceremony, which begins at noon Icelandic time today.
Arnarson is competing in his third Olympics and will compete for the first time in Beijing on Sunday, Morgunbladid reports.
The Icelandic group of athletes counts around 50 Olympians competing in swimming, track and field, badminton, handball and judo. The first Icelander to compete is badminton player Ragna Ingólfsdóttir, whose first match is scheduled for tomorrow.
