A suspect has been interrogated in relation to the Laugarásvídeó Video Rental Shop fire last weekend. Chief constable Fridrik Smári Björgvinsson told visir.is that the man was released afterward, but the investigation continues.

Only one man has the legal status of a suspect. The police stated shortly after the fire that a man had been seen approaching the shop in a white SUV. He appears to have poured flammable liquids down the hatch and then ignited it, with disastrous consequences.

The man was described to have a pony tail. Questioned on the subject, the chief constable was unable to comment on that.

The damages caused by the arsonist are estimated to be at least 200 million ISK.
