A total of 2,141 new cars were sold in Iceland last August, compared to 1,498 in August last year, amounting to a 43 percent increase. However, during the first eight months of this year, car sales dropped by 11.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
Toyota is the most popular car in Iceland this year. According to statistics from the Road Traffic Directorate, 2,685 Toyotas were sold during the first eight months of 2007, Bladid reports.
There has been a 600 percent increase in the sale of Land Rovers and Range Rovers when the sale during last August and August 2006 is compared.
