Supreme Court Prolongs Sexual Abuse Sentence

The Supreme Court of Iceland sentenced Bödvar Thórhallsson, who is almost 40, to four years in prison on Wednesday for sexually abusing six young girls, thus prolonging the sentence of the District Court which gave the man a 2.5-year sentence.

Thórhallsson was found guilty of having abused the girls, who were born in 1984, 1987 and 1992, between 1988 and 2005. He forced some of the girls to oral sex, others to masturbate in front of him or rub his genitals. He made two of the girls write with a pen on his genitals, Fréttabladid reports.

The Supreme Court also raised the compensation the man had to pay two of his victims: from ISK 600,000 (USD 8,100, EUR 8,100) and 800,000 (USD 10,800, EUR 6,800) to ISK 1 million (USD 13,500, EUR 8,500) each.

Thórhallsson is obligated to pay five of the girls ISK 3.5 million (USD 47,400, EUR 30,000) in compensation in total.
