Supreme Court confirms travel ban over former deCODE employee

Iceland’s Supreme Court has confirmed a travel ban over a former employee of deCODE Genetics.

The employee is one of five former staff members accused of stealing valuable and highly confidential data from the company.

Reykjavík District Court had previously ordered a travel ban over the employee, who is a Spanish national, on 29 September. This is reported in all the main media.

The employee is, along with four others, accused of stealing data from deCODE and passing it on to the Philadelphia Children’s Hospital, where the other four are currently employed. He maintains his innocence and has announced that he will be filing a libel suit against deCODE.
