Supreme Court Confirms Custody of Iceland Bankers

The Supreme Court of Iceland confirmed yesterday the custody ruling over former CEO of Kaupthing Hreidar Már Sigurdsson and former director of Kaupthing in Luxembourg Magnús Gudmundsson.

On Friday, Reykjavík District Court ruled that Sigurdsson should remain in custody for 12 days and Gudmundsson for seven—both men are now in solitary confinement in Iceland’s maximum security prison Litla-Hraun—but they appealed the ruling.

According to ruv.is, yesterday’s ruling will not be published on the Supreme Court’s website, as is customary, because Special Prosecutor Ólafur Thór Hauksson believes the information included there might harm his investigation.
