According to the results of a recent Gallup poll, support for prime minister Halldór Ásgrímsson’s Progressive Party is at an all time low, measuring in at 8.5 per cent. In the national election two years ago, the Progressive Party received 18% of the votes. Prior to this poll, the Progressive Party’s support had never dropped below 10 per cent.
Support for both the Social Democratic Alliance and Independence Party increased slightly to 34 per cent and 38 per cent, respectively.
For the fifth consecutive month, support for the Left Green Party was virtually unchanged measuring in at 15 per cent.
Five per cent of the respondents said they would vote for the Liberal Party .
The poll was conducted April 25 through April 27.
