Sunny in Eastern Iceland: 27 degrees Celsius Forecast over the Weekend

The weather forecast for Egilstadir in eastern Iceland is very good this week. On June 17, Iceland’s Independence day the forecast is 19 degrees C, on Friday the heat goes up to 24 degrees and at noon on Saturday the forecast is 27 degrees according to mbl.is.

Sibylle von Löwis, meteorologist at the Icelandic Met Office said that the forecast is not final since this is a computer forecast and some more calculations are needed.

Meteorologist Einar Sveinbjörnsson says that the air will not be abnormally warm, but could get warm enough to get the heat of the air over 25 degrees in eastern Iceland as long as the sun shines and the wind is not blowing from the sea. Sveinbjörnsson says that if you are looking for the best weather you should go east, from Eyjafjördur in the north and eastbound.

The Norwegian web service www.yr.no is not as optimistic and expects only 15 degrees and rain on Saturday but 20 degrees on Friday.
