Iceland State Radio, RÚV, reports that the sale of tickets to sunnier climes have jumped recently. Most tours are sold out and all trips to beach-front destinations are full for the next two weeks.
Spokespeople for the travel agencies agree that, from the end of June and beginning of July, demand for vacations in warm and sunny places has increased drastically. Even though the interest is from all across Iceland the lack of sun and rain in the south and west Iceland has increased interest in the sun.
Terra Nova Travel Agency reports that business is booming. Everything is sold out at Heimsferðir. And according to Helgi Eysteinsson, marketing director at Úrval Útsýn, says that all their airplanes are full for the next two weeks. He says that booking had a slow start but jumped substantially in June.
