Sunniest March in Iceland in over a Decade

March was the sunniest in Reykjavík since 1999. The hours of sunshine numbered around 163, 51 hours more than the average. Akureyri recorded 80 hours of sunshine, roughly the average for March, as reported by visir.is.

Average rainfall was well below average in Reykjavík at 41 mm, or 50 percent, the driest since 2005, while Akureyri recorded 47 mm, the average for Iceland’s northern capital.
