The building of summerhouses is at an all-time high in Árnessýsla where, currently, 700 new summerhouses are being built, mostly in Grímsnes and Bláskógabyggð. The houses are from 60 to 240 square meters in size.
Iceland State Radio, RÚV, reports, that in his 28 years in the field, the building inspector for Árnessýsla, Hilmar Einarsson, has never been as busy. He is used to processing just over a hundred construction permits a year. In June of this year, 700 new summerhouses were being built and 170 construction permits were processed.
