A food market will be held on Lækjartorg square in downtown Reykjavík this summer. There is currently no large fresh food market in the area.

A project group at Reykjavík City Council was set up to work on the initiative. The market will be held four Saturdays in summer, more often if it is well received.
According to Fréttablaðið, the group aims to have a good selection of products on sale.
