Suit and White Shirt in Forecast for East Iceland

‘Stop standing in front of East Iceland, dear meteorologists,’ (Hættið að standa fyrir Austurlandi kæru veðurfræðingar) is the name of a new Facebook page with 136 members. On the page, people share screen shots of meteorologists on the national broadcasting station RÚV, standing in front of a weather map of Iceland, blocking the view of the east part of the country, while detailing the forecast. While signs indicating wind speed, precipitation and temperature cover the rest of the map, East Iceland is covered by the meteorologist alone.

Eiður Ragnarsson in Djúpivogur published the above screenshot on his Facebook page with the note, “The East will be hit by a suit and a white shirt in coming days.”

Eiður told Austurfrétt, “I think the least consideration one can show is to allow people to see details like temperatures and wind speeds in their part of the country.”

When asked for a solution to the problem, Eiður replied, “I guess we have to ask for a left-handed meteorologist on RÚV, or ask them to start using the pointer as they used to back in the day.” Then they could position themselves east of the country and open the East to everyone’s view.
