Sugarcubes reunite

By Iceland Review

On 17 November the Sugarcubes will play a concert in Laugardalshöll, Reykjavík, as 20 years have passed since they released their debut single Ammæli (“Birthday”).

Ticket sales begin today at 10 am in record store Skífan, located in Kringlan and Smáralind malls in Reykjavík, computer store BT in Akureyri, Egilsstadir and Selfoss, as well as on the internet:

All profits from the concert will go towards non-profit record label Smekkleysa, which has been active in promoting Icelandic artists and introducing Icelandic music to the world.

The Sugarcubes were founded in Iceland in 1986 as an alternative rock band with Björk Gudmundsdóttir as lead singer. The band broke up in 1992 when Björk decided to go solo.
