Elementary school children in Reykjavík, who participate in the after-school programs for Austurbaejarskóli, Hlídarskóli and Háteigsskóli, cooperated on the project “Christmas in a Shoebox” for their peers in the Ukraine.
The students filled boxes with study aids, sanitary products and presents, some which they had made themselves. Each box is labeled with the age for which the presents are suitable, Morgunbladid reports.
On Saturday the boxes were categorized and delivered to the Icelandic YMCA and YWCA associations which sent the boxes to the Ukraine.
After-school program supervisor Andrea Ólafsdóttir said that her students had been very happy to work on the project.
