The Icelandic Met Office has issued a strong gale warning (wind speeds in excess of 20 m/sec) today, covering the region from Holtavörðuheiði mountain pass in Northwest Iceland to the Húsavík area in the northeast.
Other parts of the country will see windy conditions, too, but the strongest wind is expected in the west and north.
Temperatures will range from 3 to 8˚ C (37-46˚ F).
Sleet or snow showers are expected in the south and west today, resulting in blowing snow or snow showers on mountain roads, but dry in the east. Decreasing wind tonight.
Next week, a series of low pressure systems is expected, causing severe weather at times, so if you have travel plans, please follow the weather forecast at en.vedur.is.
