Strong Gale Warning

The Icelandic Met Office has issued a strong gale warning for today, with southeasterly winds of 15-23 meters per second. There will be sleet or rain in the southern and western parts of the country, snow in the mountains, and heavy rain in the southeast by afternoon. Lighter winds and mostly clear in the northeast, but southeasterly winds increasing to 18-25 meters per second with snow or sleet by afternoon, windiest on the east coast tonight, or up to 28 meters per second.

The gale force winds and rain, sleet or snow will make traveling in most areas of the country difficult today, since roads will get very icy.
