Strike Continues, Close to 200 Operations Postponed

As a result of the ongoing strike among members of the Association of Academics (BHM), which includes x-ray technicians and midwives, 180 operations have been postponed at Landspítali National University Hospital as well as 15 angioplasty procedures, reports.

Around 60 percent of x-rays have been postponed as well as 700 appointments among outpatients. Only around 40 to 50 percent of laser treatments for cancer patients are currently being carried out.

On an average day around 60 operations are carried out but with the current situation only around 25, the most urgent, are carried out.
