Domestic Air Iceland flights will be canceled tomorrow if an agreement is not reached in wage negotiations with flight attendants today, RÚV reports. CEO Árni Gunnarsson stated that passengers have been notified.
“There’s always some hope while we’re still negotiating,” he remarked. A negotiating meeting to discuss the wage dispute was scheduled for 1 pm today.
Passengers who have flights scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday, when a strike is expected, have been offered alternative flights.
Árni noted that twice, agreements have been reached with the representatives of flight attendants, both of which were voted against by the flight attendants themselves.
Sturla Bragi Óskarsson, who chairs the negotiating committee of the Icelandic Cabin Crew Association was not optimistic last week that an agreement would be reached in time to prevent the three-day strike.
