Straumur-Burdarás First to Register Stocks in Euros

The board of the Iceland-based investment bank Straumur-Burdarás decided at a meeting yesterday to register the bank’s stocks in euros instead of Icelandic krónur at the OMX Nordic Stock Exchange in Iceland after September 20.

Straumur-Burdarás will thus become the first Icelandic company to register its stocks in a foreign currency since OMX announced two weeks ago that companies would be permitted to do so by the end of this month, Fréttabladid reports.

According to a statement from Straumur-Burdarás, the move is part of the bank’s policy to increase its number of foreign investors. The company was also the first in Iceland to settle its accounts in a foreign currency.
