Stranded Ship Freed off Northeast Iceland

The 4,000 ton cargo vessel Green Maloy was stranded at around 1 am this morning when sailing out of the harbor in Þórshöfn, Northeast Iceland.

The Coast Guard ship Þór, which was nearby, helped to free the ship on high tide at about 4 am. The ship, which escaped damage, then continued its planned route to the Shetland Islands, visir.is reports.

Þórshöfn is home to one of Iceland’s biggest fishmeal factories.
