Storm Tears Camper Apart in Southeast Iceland

It has been stormy in parts of Iceland in the past days. On Tuesday night a camper was quite literally torn apart by the violent wind which raged in Öræfi, Southeast Iceland, as can be seen in a video caught by Guðmundur Ögmundsson.

The passengers, a Canadian couple with three young children, escaped relatively unharmed. The camper had run off the road before being destroyed by the storm, Vísir reports.

Search and rescue were on alert in the region because of Tuesday’s storm, advising travelers to take refuge in Skaftafell and wait there until the weather calmed before continuing.
