Storm Sweeps across West and North Iceland

Search and rescue squad Dagrenning in Hólmavík, the eastern West Fjords, was called out last night because of a storm which raged in the area. A roof was coming loose from a house in the town and a boat in the harbor was about to be blown out to sea.

Trampolines and other loose objects in gardens took off in the storm; six flying trampolines were reported in and around Akureyri, North Iceland. No one was harmed but some of the trampolines hit car and houses, causing damages, ruv.is reports.

The storm didn’t calm until the middle of the night. Squalls reached a speed of 30-40 m/s under mountains and drivers on caravans and those traveling with trailers in the regions were asked to take special care. The outlook is calmer for the coming days.
