Stormy weather kept rescue workers from Akranes and Borgarness (west Iceland) busy yesterday.
Rescue teams helped around thirty people who had become stranded in their cars near Hafnarfjall Mountain, west Iceland. Inclement weather forced police to close the road around the mountain for over an hour.
Rescue workers also assisted stranded motorists at Hellisheidi, which lies between Reykjavík and the town of Hveragerdi.
Heavy winds are still hitting the capital area.
