Storm Keeps Search and Rescue Busy

Rescue services were kept busy yesterday due to strong wind and heavy rain in the south and west of the country, ruv.is reports.

Rescue workers came to the assistance of tourists camping at Landmannalaugar, providing them with warm clothes and food.

The Life Saving Association rescue vessel assisted the crew aboard a sailboat in Reykjavík harbor come ashore.

In Álftavatn, an elderly man injured his hip after being blown over in strong wind. Rescue services transported him by ambulance to Fljótshlíð to receive medical attention.

Search and rescue also assisted a group of tourists north of Vatnajökull.
