Stolen lava stones cause anger of gods

The Icelandic Tourist Board received a parcel including two small lava stones and a letter from a Canadian female tourist last week, asking the board to please return the stones.

According to ferdamalastofa.is, the woman explained she had found the stones when she was traveling in Iceland last summer and had taken them with her back to Canada as souvenirs. Since then, she said, she had been cursed with bad luck.

An acquaintance had explained to the woman that tourists on Hawaii were asked to leave lava stones alone, as the gods would be angered by the disturbance of nature.

As Hawaii and Iceland are both volcanic islands, the Canadian tourist thought the Icelandic gods might have been angered when she took the lava stones, and so she asked the Icelandic Tourist Board kindly to return them.
