A container carrying various tools, which was stolen from its location in Reykjavík on Monday, was spotted in Borgarnes, 73 kilometers north of Reykjavík, on Tuesday by a local residents who had seen its picture in the newspaper.
The container has now been delivered back to its owner, the maintenance company Vidhaldsvirkni in Hafnarfjördur, a neighboring town of Reykjavík, Fréttabladid reports.
“Nothing appears to have been stolen from it,” said Árni Mar Fridgeirsson at Vidhaldsvirkni. “But everything inside it has been jumbled after the journey.”
Fridgeirsson said he is surprised by the audacity of the thieves, who stole the container in broad daylight and must have had a truck and a powerful crane to transport the container with.
It is unclear who stole the container and why it had been left in Borgarnes.
