Still Snowing in East Iceland

By Iceland Review

The mountain pass to the East Iceland town of Mjóifjörður, population 20, was closed last night because of snowfall. The road, number 953, was opened last week after being closed all winter.

Snowfall also made other roads only passable by bigger 4×4 vehicles, like road 85 to Raufarhöfn and the Möðrudalsöræfi mountain pass on Ring Road 1, connecting North and East Iceland, visir.is reports.

The cold weather is forecast to continue for the next couple of days. In Reykjavík, it will be sunny but cold due to northerly winds.
