Stay Indoors Tonight in East Fjords

The Department of Civil Protection in Iceland asks people in the East Fjords to stay indoors tonight and tomorrow morning. The weather outlook indicates the winds could approach hurricane force.

Business owners and residents are encouraged to fasten down containers, pallets, trampolines, garbage cans, etc. with weights. The importance of keeping drains clear is also stressed. Any small, loose items should be brought indoors.

Please follow the weather forecast on en.vedur.is.

If urgent assistance is needed, please call the emergency number 112.

You can watch the approaching weather system on earth.nullschool.net. The map shows a forecast of the storm, which is updated frequently.
