Star Wars Crew to Return to Iceland for Shooting

The crew of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is said to be planning to return for Iceland to film selected scenes for the upcoming movie. The crew first came to Iceland last year for shooting in the Mývatn area in Northeast Iceland.

Last year, shooting took place around volcano Krafla in the northeastern highlands, Vísir reports.

Set to premiere on December 18, 2015, the film is a continuation of the saga created by George Lucas, taking place 30 years after Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983).

The cast includes Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher from the original Star Wars trilogy. The film’s director is J.J. Abrahams.
