Police in Akureyri in northeast Iceland sent members of the special forces to the nearby town of Dalvík last night in response to calls from a man threatening to use his firearm.
Police had streets in Dalvík closed and staked out the house of the potential shooter for three hours. The man was finally reached by telephone and agreed on opening his house to the police and not firing his weapon. Morgunbladid reports.
The man was arrested and brought to the police station in Akureyri. According to Morgunbladid’s sources, he had never been armed.
