Stabbing in Broad Daylight

The CEO of the law firm Lagastoð (“Legal Support”) was stabbed repeatedly with a knife in his office yesterday morning. His condition is critical. The assailant, who is in his thirties, was subdued by the CEO’s colleague, who also received some stab wounds to his thigh. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

The attacker had received a loan on a motorcycle from a financing company but was heavily behind on payments. The man had then attempted to claim that the bike was missing but his bank reported him to the police for stealing.

Lagastoð handled the bank’s collection procedures. No one who works for Lagastoð was familiar with the attacker. He came into the law firm around 9 am and asked to see a lawyer. He was then referred to the CEO’s office. It appears that the fact that the CEO was attacked was a coincidence and that he was not specifically singled out by the assailant.

The attacker does not seem to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. According to people with whom the assailant works with, the man is well liked, intelligent and hard-working. This story was widely covered by all the major news media in the country today and yesterday.
