Square by Harpa Best Nordic Public Space

The square by Harpa, the new concert and conference center by the Reykjavík waterfront, was named Best Nordic Public Space at the Nordic Architecture Awards in Gothenburg, Sweden, yesterday.

The square was designed by Landslag in collaboration with the architect firms Batteríid and Henning Larsen Architects and the artist Ólafur Elíasson. The engineering firms Mannvit and Verkvís also participated in the project, mbl.is reports.

There were three award categories; in addition to Best Public Space, Best Nordic Building and Best Nordic Urban Planning.

An international jury determined the winner among nominations from each participating country. Norwegian architects stood up as winners in the other two categories.
