Speeding BMW got away from police

A BMW, driving faster than 200 km per hour down Reykjanesbraut highway in southwest Iceland, got away from police in a car chase on Wednesday night.

According to Bladid, the driver did not stop when police gave him a stopping signal. Police chased the BMW but lost sight of it. The speed limit on Reykjanesbraut is 90 km per hour.

Chief Constable of Keflavík police Karl Hermannsson told Bladid that they knew the number of the BMW and suspected its whereabouts. Police are hopeful they will catch the driver soon.

Hermannsson said speeding at more than twice the limit has not occurred for a long time on Reykjanesbraut, but unfortunately, he said, this is not the only case.
