Speculation rife around Icelandair sale

According to the Financial Times this morning, final negotiations are underway between FL Group, parent company of Icelandair, and Ólafur Ólafsson, owner of Icelandic shipping company Samskip, for the latter’s acquisition of the airline.

The paper’s sources put the selling price at ISK 46-65 billion (USD 657-928 million) and revenues from the sale at some ISK 20 billion (some USD 286 million). RÚV online reports.

Meanwhile, Icelandic daily Fréttabladid has a front-page story in which it claims that SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) has its eye on Icelandair. According to its sources, representatives from SAS have been in touch with Icelandair reps with a view to acquiring the latter.
