Special forces use teargas on 16-year-old

The special forces unit for the capital region police had to use teargas on a 16-year-old boy who was threatening a family with a knife in their home. He was taken to the hospital to wash the gas from his eyes and afterwards to the police station.

Police received information about the event close to midnight and, according to police protocol, sent the special forces to the scene as the teenager was armed. The boy would not drop his weapon and therefore teargas was used, Morgunbladid reports.

According to police, the 16-year-old has often been involved in illegal activities before, but it is unclear why he threatened the family with a knife.
