People are invited to sing, listen to songs and various stories at the Gerðuberg Culture Center in Reykjavík suburb Breiðholt today, November 20, between 2 and 4 pm. The theme of the songs and stories are food and drink.
Guests will be given booklets with lyrics so that they can join in. Admission is free and guests are encouraged to bring their children and grandchildren along, a press release says.
Performers are Ragnhildur Magnúsdóttir, Veska Jónsdóttir, Rumyana Þorbjarnarson from Bulgaria and singer and storyteller Þórunn Elín Pétursdóttir.
The songs are a mix of Icelandic and foreign folk songs compiled by Bára Grímsdóttir and Chris Foster.
They organize regular song sessions at Gerðuberg in collaboration with the culture center and the poetry association Iðunn.
