Some 4,000 workers needed to fill Icelandic vacancies

The local population in Iceland falls short of being able to fill all vacancies on the labor market, according to the managing director of Capacent employment agency in Reykjavík. Official figures indicate that some 4,000 people are required to fill all positions on the market, making it likely that foreign workers will have to be recruited. This is reported by RÚV online.

The number of active labor participants in Iceland is some 160,000 to 170,000, with 1,600 to 1,700 new workers entering the market each year. Icelandic workers are needed in all sectors, there is a lot of transition on the market, and employers are currently using every trick there is to recruit staff.
