The demonstration, attended by both Brazilians and Icelanders, was peaceful.
Roughly 200,000 Brazilians have marched the streets of some of Brazil’s largest cities, such as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Brasilia, protesting against poor public service, police brutality and corruption in public administration. In Brasilia, protesters have climbed the walls of the parliament building and barged in.
Traffic has closed down in all the cities, visir.is reported.
It is believed that the protests in Brazil escalated after being organized on social media .
