Almar Yngvi Garðarsson, reported missing over the weekend, was found dead yesterday. He was 29 years old and leaves behind a partner and a child. The car he was driving was found in the Hafnarfjörður harbour, but the police do not believe his death resulted from criminal activity.

According to a press notice from the police, his family would like to express their gratitude to the people who participated in the search efforts, including the police, search-and-rescue teams, the coast guard and several volunteers.

Police are looking for Almar Yngvi Garðarsson, aged 29. Almar Yngvi is 190cm [6.2 feet] tall, thin, with dark hair and a beard. He is most likely wearing a white hoodie, a black down vest and grey running shoes. He was last seen in Hafnarfjörður between 2-3 am on Sunday. Almar might be driving a grey Chevrolet Spark rental car, license number UX90. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the police immediately by calling 112 emergency services.

The police have been searching for Almar since yesterday to no avail. Search-and-rescue parties in the capital area, the Reykjanes Peninsula, the South coast and west Iceland have been mobilised to aid in the search effort as well as the coast guard.
