Bus Passengers to Resume Front-Door Boarding

Starting on Monday, Strætó passengers will resume boarding via the front door of buses, Strætó announced on its website.

This means that buses will no longer be divided into two sections and drivers will resume normal fare collection and ticket inspection. There will no longer be a limit to how many people can ride the bus at once and two-metre social distancing will not be enforced. Strætó emphasises, however, that single seats in the front of the bus will be available for passengers who are “trying to maintain as much social distancing as possible.”

The relaxation of social distancing measures on buses is in accordance with guidance from Iceland’s Chief Epidemiologist and health authorities.
