Social Democrats losing support

The Social Democrats in Iceland, Samfylkingin, have never had fewer supporters during the current election period, according the results of a new survey revealed yesterday, conducted by consulting, recruitment and research company Capacent.

According to the survey, almost half of all participants support the current Independence Party-Progressive Party coalition government, as Fréttabladid reports.

If the general elections were today, the Independence Party would get 37 percent of votes, the Progressive Party nine percent, the Social Democrats 22 percent, the Left Greens 21 percent and the Liberal Party nine percent.

The Left Greens was the only party to gain support in this election period.
