Snow is disappearing in Reykjavík

Temperatures have remained above freezing all week, so the snow, which fell ten days ago, is quickly melting away, leaving the city bare and grey.

Only a few snowdrifts can still be found in the capital. Young Kári Steinn was entertaining himself crushing lumps of ice and moving snow balls around when a journalist from Morgunbladid passed him by, but his and other kids’ fun will soon be over.

The Icelandic meteorological office has continued to forecast temperatures above freezing point in southern Iceland over the weekend. It will also be rainy and windy.
