Snoop Dogg swooping down on Iceland

Aficionados of rap music will undoubtedly be delighted to learn that the American artist known as “Snoop Dogg” is scheduled to perform at Egilshöll in Reykjavík on July 17.

Tickets go on sale June 7 and are available at music store Skífan, electronics retailer BT and on the website of local concert producer Event, http://www.event.is.

Fréttablaðið reports that Snoop Dogg will be flying in from Germany in a private jet en route back to the US. His entourage is said to number thirty people.

Come summer, the inhabitants of “the land of ice and snow; where the midnight sun and the hot springs flow”, as Led Zeppelin described Iceland, can look forward to swaying to Snoop Dogg music and lyrics such as “I’m a Bad Boy, wit a lotta ho’s; drive my own cars, and wear my own clothes”.
