Small town business closes

On a day when the Icelandic media is dominated by the news of Davíð Oddsson’s departure from politics, “Morgunblaðið” is also covering some smaller local news items, surely of equal importance to those directly affected by incidents:

Video rental store Frummynd, in the Westfjörd community of Ísafjörður (population 4,131), was declared bankrupt yesterday. The store had been operating since before the advent of the satellite TV and multiple TV stations. There is now only one video rental store left in Ísafjörður. Those with outstanding DVDs and videos from Frummynd are requested to return them promptly to one of the local legal firms in town.
