Slátur Music Festival Kicks Off in Reykjavík

The third annual international music festival Slátur, or Sláturtíd, referencing the making of blood and liver pudding which takes place in Icelandic kitchens at this time of year, kicks off in the capital today and will run through October 3.

The festival consists of seven events, most of which are organized in collaboration with Reykjavík Art Museum and the concert series Jadarber, which takes place in Hafnarhús, as stated on the museum’s website.

Vortex Project from Austria/Slovenia and Cristopher Schiller from Switzerland are lined up to perform during the festival, along with the Icelandic performers FagVerk and Fengjastrútur, among others.

Many new “obtrusive compositions” will be played during the festival and a couple of recently-built robots are also included in the program.
