The slopes in Böggvisstaðafjall, the ski resort in Dalvík, North Iceland, were the first to open this skiing season, marking its beginning yesterday. A number of people took advantage of the prime conditions, created by the recent snowfall in the region.

Slopes are set to open across North Iceland shortly; the lifts in Tindastóll by Sauðárkrókur are scheduled to start running on Friday, ruv.is reports.
In Kjarnaskógur forest in Akureyri, the telemark skiing track is being made, as is the telemark skiing track in the local ski resort Hlíðarfjall.
However, the slopes of Hlíðarfjall are not set to open until December 1 and the same applies to the resort in Skarðsdalur by Siglufjörður.
Sufficient snow has fallen in Oddskarð by Neskaupstaður, East Iceland, and the lifts will start running as soon as the weather is good enough for skiing.
In Seljalandsdalur by Ísafjörður, the West Fjords, the telemark skiing track has opened.
