The Akureyri ski resort in Mt. Hlídarfjall opened last week; the telemark ski track has been open since early November. The Mt. Bláfjöll ski resort in Reykjavík opened approximately two weeks ago and other ski resorts opened last weekend.

In Dalvík, northeast Iceland, the slopes in Mt. Böggvisstadarfjall opened on Sunday. The weather was sunny and the temperature around freezing point, reports.

On the other side of the Tröllaskagi peninsula, in Skagafjördur, northwest Iceland, the local ski resort in Mt. Tindastóll was also open for business last weekend. The weather was equally suitable for skiing there.

The first ski area to open this winter was the one in Siglufjördur.
